Studio Philosophy
Design as Artifact. Home as Narrative.
Sharon Hess is an Interior Designer known for creating quietly luxurious, deeply lived-in spaces rooted in history, narrative, and a refined collector’s eye. Her work blends classical proportion, curated objects, and unexpected modern clarity - resulting in interiors that feel timeless, personal, and emotionally resonant.
For more than two decades, Sharon has worked across residential design with a particular sensitivity to homes of character, including historic properties and architectural spaces with soul. Her approach balances intuition with disciplined curation, ensuring each room reflects the client's story while honoring the integrity of the space itself.
Her guiding philosophy is simple:
Design should be lived, loved, and layered - -never rushed, never over-styled, always intentional.
At Studio Hess, she partners with clients to create paces that feel collected, rather than decorated; spaces that age gracefully, function beautifully and carry meaning. Whether design a full home from concept to completion or providing hybrid guidance, Sharon’s work honors both craftsmanship[ and modern life.
Sharon’s background includes a Master of Arts, Interior Design, as well as years of collaboration with artisans, trades, and luxury design houses. She brings the eye of a collector, the precision of a curator and the heart of a storyteller.
When she is not designing, Sharon can be found walking the Virginia countryside with her loyal mastiff, Pax - her constant companion and quiet observer all of things beautiful.
Studio Hess begins every project with a simple belief:
Your home is a reflection of your life - not a stage set.
Each design is tailored, thoughtful, and rooted in the client's individuality. Every object has a history; every detail has purpose. This philosophy guides the studio’s approach to materials, color, proportion, and flow. The result is an evolved aesthetic: warm, intelligent, textural and deeply human.
